Does it make sense to replace my shower faucet now?
I have the walls in my shower removed and I’m rebuilding and retiling them. My shower head kits include new hot / cold water mixers. Should I replace them? The old one leaks a bit, but could it just require a rebuild kit? The reason I ask is because replacing it would require me re-soldering the new unit in and cutting the old unit out.
Thanks.
I would suggest that you replace it. It may some extra work for you now but if it is leaking, it could damage the new tile that is being put into place. I think it would be worth replacing when you consider the long term effects. Better to do it now than have to tear down the tile just to replace it later!
Good Luck!

With plumbing the golden rule is take advantage of pro active maintenance, do it and sleep better for it, could cost more in the long run if you have solder joints, good luck
